About
We built our first cabin at home eight years ago and dreamt of one day turning it into a business.
We were lucky enough to grow up in beautiful West Somerset. Nestled between Exmoor, the Quantocks and the Blackdowns, we were surrounded by trees and hills.
In a clearing in the woods behind our parents’ house, we built our first cabin. We clad it with wainey edge horizontal boards and fitted second-hand double doors and windows.
For years we did a pop up pizza night on Friday nights in the summer. Guests sat around fires in the woods, eating sourdough pizza from dad’s brick oven and listening to live music performed on the deck we’d built outside the cabin.
In April 2020 we founded Woodcock Cabins
In the first 18 months of trading we built twelve cabins.
We have enjoyed turning clients’ ideas into reality - helping them transform garden patches into liveable spaces for work or relaxation. We love being able to offer flexible solutions that prefab buildings just can’t give.
Sustainability matters
We source from suppliers who share a similar vision; locally grown timber from sustainable woods. And we use reclaimed and recycled materials whenever possible. Our insulation, for example, is made from recycled plastic bottles and we install repurposed windows when suitable.
An early start
We were fortunate to learn foundational building skills from our Dad growing up. We each continued to develop our abilities while working as apprentices and volunteers on projects around the world.
These projects include establishing living spaces in refugee camps in Serbia and Greece, creating infrastructure on off-grid organic farms in California and near Pangbourne in Oxfordshire.
